Iberdrola Planning 1.2-GW Pumped Storage Hydro Plant in Portugal
The nearly 1200-megawatt (MW) Alto Támega hydro complex in Portugal is set to be developed by Spanish energy group Iberdrola. The new plants, two with a combined 900 MW of pumped storage capacity and two pure turbine facilities with a combined 234 MW capacity, will be able to produce some 2 terrawatt-hours (TWh) a year.

enXco Commissions 100-MW US Wind Farm
EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDFEN) announced that it’s U.S. subsidiary, enXco, has commissioned the Wapsipinicon wind farm.The 100.5-megawatt (MW) facility, which is located in Minnesota, was built using 67 GE Energy turbines. Each turbine is rated at 1.5 MW of generating capacity.

Nacel Planning 10-MW Texas Wind Farm
Nacel Energy Corporation confirmed it has entered into two long term wind development rights agreements covering an aggregate of 636 acres in Donley County, Texas. The project, called Hedley Pointe, is the company’s fourth wind energy project located in the Texas Panhandle. At project build-out, Nacel Energy anticipates 10 megawatts (MW), or more, of power generating capacity from Hedley Pointe.
