SolarCraft Helps Sterling Vineyards Switch to Solar
Novato-based SolarCraft announced the completion a 72 kW solar electric system at Sterling Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Sterling’s famed aerial tram is now powered by the sun. Each year the celebrated tram carries more than 200,000 visitors to the Sterling Vineyards winery perched 300 feet above the town of Calistoga.

New Report Shows Hydrogen Vehicles Will Drive Change
Today, the National Hydrogen Association released a new report called the “Energy Evolution: An Analysis of Alternative Vehicles and Fuels to 2100.” The Energy Evolution shows that a scenario which initially includes a mix of alternative vehicles, and is later dominated by hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles sales is the only way to simultaneously cut U.S. greenhouse gas pollution by 80% below 1990 levels; reach petroleum quasi-independence by mid-century; and eliminate nearly all controllable air pollution by the end of the century. The report also shows that an expansion of hydrogen stations is more affordable than most people think.

Heating the Northeast with Renewable Biomass

Vermont FIT Bill Passes Major Milestones
On Earth Day the Vermont House of Representatives passed House Bill 446, the Vermont Energy Act of 2009. The bill includes changes to Vermont’s Sustainably Priced Energy Enterprise Development Program (SPEED) that would implement a pilot feed-in tariff policy.

First Solar To Supply PV Modules for 1-MW System in Australia
First Solar Inc. will supply solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to Solar Shop Australia Pty Ltd. for a 1 megawatt (MW) rooftop project. The solar power system, installed on six separate buildings at the Adelaide Showground in South Australia, will be the largest PV installation in the country. The rooftop system is being commissioned by the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia.
