SunWize Awarded 1.1-MW in Federal Solar PV Contracts
SunWize Commercial Power Systems has been awarded contracts valued at more than US $7.8 million by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The contracts call for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems at 10 VA hospitals, which combined will have an installed capacity of more than 1.1 megawatts (MW).

Clean Power Finance Closes US $6.9M Financing
Clean Power Finance Inc. (CFP) announced the first close of a US $6.9 million financing round co-led by Claremont Creek Ventures and Clean Pacific Ventures. The company will use this funding to expand the software feature set it offers and to extend its presence beyond the solar photovoltaic market. Gas prices hit 15 month high
Gas prices on a trajectory to hit $3.00 soon.$3.00 here we come

The average price of gasoline in the US is now a bit over $2.70, the highest average in 15 months, despite weak demand. Nonetheless, many analysts believe $3.00 gas could soon be the nation’s average.

Eventually, however, without an uptick in the economy, gas prices will probably begin to trend downward later in the year.

GM’s Brownstown Battery Pack Assembly Plant produced its first lithium-ion battery pack for the Chevy Volt today.

GM CEO Ed Whitacre said at the event that a few Volts might be sold before November, when the Volt is to officially go on sale.

Overall, Volt production will be limited, at least through the first full year of production, but should eventually reach about 60,000 Volts per year.
