New Zealand Introduces New Emissions Trading Scheme

Last week saw New Zealand become one of only 29 countries worldwide to adopt an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). The decision has been met with a mixed response nationally, with most people in agreement over the need for some regulatory steps to be in place,  but a general feeling that the new scheme fails to deliver enough of an incentive to large polluters to change the way they do business.
